It’s Official: Bryan Matluk Named Eugene Ballet’s Next Executive Director

The search we announced back in May has an answer: Bryan Matluk is joining Eugene Ballet as our next Executive Director, arriving in early October.

So, who is Bryan? In short: someone who has spent his career doing exactly what we need right now.

Get to Know Bryan

Bryan brings more than 16 years of nonprofit and arts leadership experience and has helped organizations raise over $105 million along the way. Most recently, he served as Director of Philanthropy at Gather, New Hampshire’s largest community food center, where he helped complete a $10.6 million capital campaign and build a permanent endowment. He’s a Certified Fund-Raising Executive with an MBA from UMass Amherst, and he started his nonprofit career as an Arts Management Fellow at the Kennedy Center.

But Bryan isn’t just a nonprofit executive who happens to be taking a ballet job. He’s a lifelong dancer and educator. He trained and taught at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet alongside a number of dancers who’ve since become part of our own company, and later served as that organization’s Acting Executive Director. In 2015, he founded Exchange Street Studio, a classical ballet school near Portland, Maine, and he currently serves on the boards of #instaballet and Portland Ovations, Maine’s largest performing arts presenter. He knows this art form from the inside.

Bryan will report to the Board and work alongside Artistic Director Jennifer Martin and Josh Neckels, now focused on operations and production, to lead Eugene Ballet’s strategic vision, fundraising, and financial oversight.

“I am deeply honored to join Eugene Ballet as its next Executive Director. Since I took my first plié in college, ballet has been my enduring passion, driving my studies and experience in dance education, philanthropy, and business. I was inspired by every person I met during the search process — from the dancers and students to the staff, board, donors, and volunteers. I am excited to work alongside these talented individuals in advancing a company that pursues artistic excellence, inspires the next generation of dancers, and reflects the vibrant community it calls home.”
