Levels 2-6

Annual Commitment Required

Professional Track

The Professional Track is for Levels 2-6. This program provides students with focused classical ballet training through a sound and diverse curriculum. The training guides the dancer through a methodical process of technical advancement, while supporting the development of the versatile dancer. Students focus on core classes including ballet, modern, jazz, and contemporary.

Professional X Track

Professional X Track is optional for students placed in Levels 4-6. This track is designed for upper-level students who wish to pursue an increased classically focused curriculum and intensive training. The program includes increased class requirements and a more demanding training schedule than the regular Professional Track.

Contemporary Track

The Contemporary Track is optional for students in Levels 5 & 6. This track is designed for upper-level students who wish to pursue a more focused curriculum and intensive training in the Contemporary realm. Students will experience more diverse coursework that places less emphasis on classical ballet, especially pointe work. This track is geared toward the dancer that wishes to develop increased self-expression, improvisational skills, and creativity.

*Placement is required for all levels in the professional programs, and advancement is by annual evaluation and is based on ability and not age. There are specific curriculum requirements for all levels.*

Level 2

Upon placement in Level 2, emphasis is placed on each student being able to demonstrate continued emotional maturity, focus, and attention span. At this level, students are expected to recognize spoken ballet terms and perform movements with added focus on quality. Given the amount of material, students may need multiple years in Level 2 to master the necessary components.

  • Level 2 Jazz (Level 2X Jazz is by Invitation Only)

Level 2

Upon placement in Level 2, emphasis is placed on each student being able to demonstrate continued emotional maturity, focus, and attention span. At this level, students are expected to recognize spoken ballet terms and perform movements with added focus on quality. Given the amount of material, students may need multiple years in Level 2 to master the necessary components. 

  • (2) Level 2 Ballet Classes
  • Level 2 Jazz (Level 2X Jazz is by Invitation Only)

Level 3

Upon placement in level 3, students are given more advanced steps within the Eugene Ballet Academy curriculum. Focus is placed on their ability to memorize combinations, execute steps with proper technique, understand the basic arm positions/transitions, and the student should be ready or nearly ready to begin pointe work. It is typically at this stage in training that we see a greater commitment to dance and development of a young artist. Given the amount of material, students may need multiple years in level 3 to master the necessary components. 

  • (2) Level 3 Ballet Classes
  • Level 3 Pointe/Pre-Pointe
  • Level 3/4 Stretch/Flex OR Progressive Ball
  • Level 3 Jazz

Level 3

Upon placement in level 3, students are given more advanced steps within the Eugene Ballet Academy curriculum. Level 4

Level 4

Level 5

Students at this level can expect to train 4 days a week in ballet curriculum as well as other dance genres: jazz, modern, contemporary, and conditioning. Level 5 dancers can expect the difficulty, length of exercise, and number of repetitions to increase. Excellence becomes more challenging as complexity increases. Given the amount of material, students may need multiple years in Level 5 to master the necessary components. 

  • (3) Level 5 OR 5/6 Ballet Classes
  • Level 5 Pointe (Tech/pointe fulfills both a Pointe and Technique requirement)
  • Level 5 Jazz
  • Level 5 Modern OR Lyrical
  • Level 5/6 Stretch/Flex
  • 1+ Elective Classes

Level 6

Level 6 is the highest level in the current training curriculum. Students at this level can expect to train 5 days a week in ballet curriculum as well as other dance genres: jazz, modern, contemporary, and conditioning. Level 6 dancers can expect the difficulty, length of exercise, and number of repetitions to increase.  At this level, a strong technical foundation should be in place. 

  • (4) Level 6 or 5/6 Ballet Classes
  • Level 6 Pointe (Tech/pointe fulfills both a Pointe and Technique requirement)
  • Level 5/6 Stretch/Flex OR Ballet Conditioning
  • 3+ Elective Classes
